The Composting Team was very busy in 2016 helping our community learn more about composting and worm composting.  Demonstrations were held at the Fair Oaks Horticulture center during Workshops, Open Gardens and Harvest Day as well as at local neighborhood libraries.

Neighborhood classes included:

Worm composting (vermiculture)
Learn the fun and benefits of composting with worms.  The class includes these topics:

  • value of worm compost
  • setting up a worm bin
  • what to feed your worms
  • harvesting techniques

Locations: Carmichael Library, Holy Spirit School, Geranium Society

Turn yard waste into "gardener's gold."  This class on the basics of composting will include setting up a compost bin, types of compost bins, and tips for success.
